Girl Looks Back
Collage, Paper Cut, Ink Dimensions: 10.5 x 7.75 inches
Elise Wehle, holy cow! Her papercuts and collages are absolutely beautiful. The intricate and hand-cut designs aren't the only thing to love. Look closer and you can see that it has been collaged creating depth and texture that makes me tingle. I'm serious, Elise Wehle's work makes my heart hold still. Le sigh.

Series Snapshots
Hey....I've been making stuff! But unlike what I sell at A Fine Tangle, it has been a series of paintings. However, I am really loving the process so this technique might find itself in some new items for the shop this summer, we shall see. But I just wanted to post some instagram photos of the works in process. And if your interested, find me on instagram @afinetangle :)

Room Progress!

Here's a few pictures of my new room color, bedspread and accessory! My walls have been painted and my old carpeting pulled up. And boy, does it look like a whole new room.

Bedroom Redo Starting!

Slowly My parents have been going through the house with updates to refresh their older home. Which means I get to redo my room! My room hasn't been redone since my 16th birthday and needless to say I've outgrown it quite a bit. Currently I have a studio space on one side but that is going to go. Working in the dark basement isn't ideal but worth it. Plus after graduate school finishes up I won't be there for long....fingers crossed! I got paint, new bedding and pulled up the carpeting to reveal the old hardwood floors! Out with the old and in with the new!

Some Stuff From First Semester

Some of you may or may not know that I began graduate school last semester. I am continuing my studies in Art Education so I can gain my professional teacher certification (currently have my initial). NYS requires a Master's degree so here I am going back to school! Which may explain some of the radio silence with afinetangle shop and the blog. I thought I would share some things I did last semester. These were my first projects for my painting class. We had to do a series of 4 paintings in different styles. In appearance order:
1. Palette knife only. Could only use palette knives to paint with (this one is my favorite)
2. 2 hour study: must be done in the 2 hour class (first one I did....found out I was really rusty)
3. Cubism or Abstract (my had a lot of freedom on this one) I chose little boxes of color.
4. Grisaille: Monochromatic under-painting with glazes of color on top (Holy Time consuming!)

Wardrobe Wednesday: Cream & Mustard

Mustard yellow, not necessarily a pretty sounding name but such a pretty color. After buying this yellow sweater I was worried I wouldn't have much to wear it with, but I was wrong! It is surprisingly neutral while adding a pop of color to an otherwise monochrome outfit. This Wednesday I paired it with some cream and brown. Yeah, I do the white after labor day...well cream if you must be specific.
